I have grace for everyone except me

You may look at someone else’s worst season and see context, pain, humanity, growth, and the possibility of redemption. You can understand why they made the choices they made. You can believe God still loves them. You can tell them they are more than their worst moment. Then you turn toward yourself and suddenly the rules change. I should have known better. I had more chances. I was supposed to be further along.

Alternating bilateral tapping

Find a comfortable position where both hands can rest easily. You can place your hands on your thighs, or cross your arms and rest each hand on the opposite upper arm. Begin a slow alternating rhythm: left, right, left, right. Keep the pressure gentle.

  • I have grace for everyone except me

    Free

You can believe completely in grace for everyone else and still quietly believe your own story is the exception.

  • I keep replaying what I said or did

    Members

The conversation ended hours ago, but part of you is still inside it—replaying every word, expression, and moment as if one more review might finally tell you whether you did something wrong.

Shame can take one hard moment and turn it into a definition of who you are.

  • I cannot forgive myself

    Members

Sometimes holding onto the pain feels like the only way to prove that what you did mattered.

  • I am ashamed of my past or body

    Members

Shame can make being seen feel dangerous—even when the person looking at you is God.

  • I only feel worthy when I am productive, useful, or perfect

    Members

Sometimes resting is hard because the moment you stop doing, you lose the thing that usually reassures you that you matter.

  • I apologize for everything or feel like I am too much

    Members

Sometimes “I’m sorry” is not really an apology. It is a way of making yourself smaller before someone else gets the chance to decide you are too much.

Everything in Self-compassion, guilt and shame is waiting for you.
